Using an ecommerce site is all about convenience, you order what you want and wait for it to be delivered to you. The biggest issue some customers have had in Kenya is that it takes a very long time for them to get the products they buy.

When Jumia first started operations in Kenya, customers had to wait for about are week or more before getting what they ordered online. This has improved over the years and is about to get even better with the introduction of Jumia Express. Jumia Express is what was formerly known as Jumia First and promises faster delivery times for customers.

According to Jumia, if you buy a product that has the Jumia express logo, you will get it delivered to you within the next day if you are in Nairobi and a day faster than normal if you are in any other part of the country. With this, if you order an item right now and you are in Nairobi, Jumia will deliver it to you tomorrow as long as it is marked with the Jumia Express logo. You get the faster delivery times at no additional cost by the way.

Speaking about this, Sam Chappatte, Jumia Managing Director said, “Our customers want us to deliver as fast as possible. We have been working very hard to make this happen, and can now consistently deliver Jumia Express orders next day within Nairobi & up to 1 day faster in the rest of the country. Thousands of products are now available on Jumia Express, with more vendors signing up to the service each week.”

Keep in mind that you have to place your order before 2PM to get it delivered the next business day in Nairobi. This makes sense as Jumia needs times to process the orders before they are shipped to customers, this means that the orders have to get in in time.

Why Only Certain Products on Jumia Express?

So the question you may be asking is, why do they have only certain products as part of Jumia Express? Jumia says that the products marked with the Jumia Express logo are the ones in its warehouse and thus it can guarantee availability. It is therefore able to pick and pack them faster than the other ones that are sitting with vendors.
