Yesterday, Facebook introduced messenger for web to the surprise of many. No one expected Facebook to make this move as there has been no news of this up until yesterday. Messenger for web is a standalone platform similar to the Facebook messenger app for Smartphones and tablets.

Before unveiling the new messenger platform, users could only chat through Facebook’s website. Users can still chat through Facebook but expect this to change after sometime. If you can remember, Facebook made it impossible to chat through its official mobile apps in an attempt to make its messenger app popular. This was met with much criticism but in the end we all forgot about that and continued using messenger app.

To use messenger for web, you need a Facebook account just the way the messenger app for mobile works. The main reason why Facebook thought the messenger platform was a good idea is for it to make it easier for those using mobile phones that use web apps and not downloaded apps. These particular pones are quite popular in emerging markets.

To use this web platform, head over to the messenger website by clicking here.
