Kodak was one of the leading players in the camera market for a long time but the company was reluctant to adopt to new technologies leading to losses giving its competitors an edge over them. Kodak has since tried to make a comeback and its latest product is a Smartphone. Yes, a Smartphone!

This is Kodak’s first Smartphone and was unveiled last week at CES 2015 in Las Vegas. The Smartphone dubbed, IM5 is not quite impressive and will be available for purchase at the end of the first quarter (between March and April).

The Kodak IM5 has a 5-inch display and will be running Android KitKat out of the box. Kodak promises that it will be updated to Lollipop as time goes by. Inside, the IM5 will have an octa-core 1.7 processor which is not quite bad considering its price.

The IM5 has a 13 MP rear camera with a 5MP front facing camera for selfies. Since this Smartphone is by Kodak, you expect the company to invest a lot on the camera and you will not be disappointed. Kodak has included some camera-ready software that will help you edit, share and print your photos.

This is the first Smartphone from Kodak that is why the specs are not that impressive. Expect more to come as time goes by. The retail price of the IM5 will be around $249 (approximately Kshs. 23,000 before taxes).
