Facebook has updated its Messenger app for Windows Phone to try and keep it at par with other platforms. Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone has been the most underdeveloped for a platform that is the third largest in terms of market share. Indeed, Android and iOS versions of the app are pretty developed, and this was the right time, if not late, for Facebook Messenger app for Windows Phone to be updated.

As such, one of the major features that has been added is the ability to record voice messages. This feature has been available for both Android and iOS devices, and Facebook states that it is among the most requested features lately. This just highlights the importance that such an update has brought to Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone, especially at a time that Microsoft is really trying to gain a grip on the market for Windows Phone devices.

Another addition, which may come as a surprise, is the added ability to send emoticons. This seems quite subtle and a small thing but the fact that it lacked in Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone is somewhat a shocker. Well, these updates can be got from the new version of the app which is available for download from the Windows Phone Store.

The aforementioned are the most conspicuous and major changes of the updates, but there is also the usual bug fixes and improvements in data consumption. Therefore, Facebook Messenger for Windows Phone will also be expected to consume less data and generally be more smooth and convenient.
