Two HTC models may not receive Windows Phone Update 1.

Just a couple of days after rolling out the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 through General Distribution Release, it is now emerging that certain phones are unable to benefit from this download. As of now, only two devices, HTC Windows Phone 8X and HTC Windows Phone 8S have been identified as experiencing certain problems in relation to the update. Consequently, Microsoft has been forced to suspend the updates for these two devices.

Apparently, Microsoft states that these two phones cannot install the update due to the fact that they lack driver updates that are essential in being able to install Update 1. This means that the problem has to be fixed by the manufacturer first before the two models can access Developer Preview version of the update. As such, Microsoft suggests that the OEM in question, in this case HTC, has to provide the driver updates for the devices, and it is only then that the two devices will be in a position to install the updates.

As of now, those who own HTC Windows Phone 8X and HTC Windows Phone 8S may not enjoy the benefits and new features that come with Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1. Hopefully, the issue will be sorted soon enough since every Windows Phone owner is entitled to the update. Currently, only these two devices have been identified as having the problem of not accepting the download. Let us hope that this problem only exists within these two, as it would be a setback, especially for Microsoft, should more devices and OEMs exhibit difficulty in installing the update.
