Just a few hours after a Vietnamese web store leaked the features of the Lumia 530, Microsoft has decided to unveil the device officially. This is the fourth device from Microsoft running Windows Phone 8.1 and will be available in single and dual-SIM flavours. The phone picks up from the very successful Lumia 520 that was unveiled last year.

This phone has some slight upgrades from the Lumia 520. Straight out of the box, it will come with Cortana, HERE Maps, Word Flow, Action Centre and a personalised start screen background.

The display screen is not that disappointing for an entry-level device at 4-inch with a resolution of 854×480 pixels.

Under the hood, the features of the Lumia 530 are exactly what the Vietnamese web store predicted. These include a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor. This will be coupled up with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage of internal storage. A microSD card is included to expand the storage space to up to 128GB.

There is only one 5MP camera at the back of the Lumia 530. The GlamMe app accepts voice commands and may help you take better selfies with this phone. The Lumia 530 comes with different colored flip shells and back plates to help you personalize you device depending on your moods.

The single SIM Lumia 530 will retail at €85 before taxes (approximately Kshs. 10,100) while the dual-SIM variant goes for €100 (approximately Kshs. 12,000). Availability will be as from August this year in selected markets and I hope Kenya will be among them.
