Google is at it once more, gearing towards the introduction of another form factor. With the ongoing development of wearables such as Glass, Google is setting itself up for more integrated wearables in the form of contact lenses. Though this is something that has been in the works for quite some time, it has now taken a huge step forward. In collaboration with Novartis, Google has just signed a deal to be a major part towards the realization of Smart contact lenses. Through this, both companies aim to improve health through the measurement of vital health statistics taken directly from the fluid within the eyes.
Beyond the health and safety benefits, such a move is aimed at improving vision, if not restoring it where possible. Additionally, features notable in cutting-edge devices such as autofocus could soon be brought to the naked human eye. Though the road is still long, such noble ideas always define the birth of revolutionary technologies.
