Airtel Employees Graduate From Mentoring Programme

Airtel Kenya today announced the graduation of twenty three employees in leadership skills from the company’s in-house mentoring programme. The program is the very first of its kind to be done by Airtel, with Kenya being the first country to initiate it in its Africa operations.

The program which was carried out under Airtel’s functional training program takes employees through various professional training modules suitable for their respective positions and personal development. The program is key in improving staff engagement and the capability development.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony that was held at a Nairobi Hotel, Airtel Kenya managing director Adil El Youssefi emphasized the importance of the program and the impact it has had on the personal skills and leadership development of the employees. He added that the program plays and important role in the development of individual management skills geared towards the improvement of our capacity to deliver best in class customer experience through innovation and differentiation in the increasingly dynamic and competitive marketplace in Kenya.

While addressing the mentors and graduates, Dr. Wale Akinyemi, the CEO PowerTalks Ltd said, “I am happy to see that Airtel has introduced such a program that seeks to develop employees’ talent. I believe the mentors will continue to pass what they’ve learned to others and watch them as they grow.”

Speaking on behalf of the mentoring graduates, James Muiruri from the customer service department emphasized the program’s importance and the impact it has had on the personality and career development as well as its role in developing their skills.

Airtel also has other different functional training programs such as talent development, mentorship, short-term assignment where staff are assigned to other OpCo to get the experience in difference markets, Academic sponsorships and job shadowing.
