Kenya’s online property portal BuyRentKenya.com has raised an undisclosed funding from South Africa’s One Africa Media. The funding gives One Africa Media a minority stake in the property website and allows the website to improve and increase user base according to its Chief Executive, Jamie Pujara, who spoke to Business Daily.

Mr Pujara also said, “We’re now in a position to employ more young Kenyans who are passionate about real estate and IT to grow our team here. In addition we want to focus on product development to be able to find new ways and tools to serve the market better.”

This new funding provides BuyRentKenya with the capital and expertise it needs to expand. Justin Clarke, Co-Founder of OAM is also the founder of PrivateProperty, a leading property website in South Africa and Nigeria said this is a great venture for OAM and that they are excited to extend the reach of all their brands to Kenyan consumers. With this new round of funding, BuyRentKenya will be joining other Kenyan websites such as BrighterMonday and Cheki.co.ke.

Justin Clarke said: “BuyRentKenya.com is by far the strongest real estate marketplace in Kenya and we’re excited about the prospects of working with a great team, and extending the reach of all our brands to Kenyan consumers. It is seldom that you come across portal founders that are really passionate about property, and completely committed to adding value to the real estate sector in Kenya and who have a long term vision.”

BuyRentKenya was founded in 2012 and gets approximately 160,000 visitors per month who view the more that 15,000 properties listed.
