Huawei unveiled a brand new smartphone earlier this week at the Mobile World Congress. In a move to keep up with the highly Changing Smartphone Market, Huawei which is still suffering brand awareness launched this new Smartphone that will go on sale as from June this year.

What is in it: The Specs

The Ascend P2 runs on Android 4.1 with Huawei’s Emotion UI and is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor coupled 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The device is also equipped with a 4.7-inch 1280 x 720 pixels display screen that is covered with Gorilla Glass 2. It also has Wi-Fi, GPS, a 2,420 mAh battery,13 megapixel rear facing camera with BSI sensor, a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera  and supports LTE Category 4 technology– making the Ascend P2 the fastest smartphone in the market right now with download speeds of up to 150mbps.

The device also includes an NFC (near field communication) chip, allowing it to support wireless payments.

The device’s major drawback is with its screen which has a lower resolution than recent models from LG, HTC and Nokia. The Ascend P2 can record 720p HD videos rather than 1080p videos, this feature may be advantageous as the device can stay longer before it is recharged.

While Huawei’s phone features some great specs, I am still not sure if it is enough to compete directly with the recently launched HTC One or the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S IV.
