Over 2,000 delegates gathered in Diani in 2025. Discussions ranged from digital inclusion, climate technology, connectivity, future skills, data policy and emerging technologies. The 2025 edition led to the adoption of the Diani Resolutions. This is a joint communiqué committing stakeholders to strengthen digital cooperation and launch the Connected Africa Secretariat to coordinate continental digital transformation efforts.
Speaking at the partners’ breakfast, Eng. John Tanui, CBS, Principal Secretary at the State Department for ICT and Digital Economy, described the summit as an opportunity for Africa to demonstrate collaborative leadership in digital transformation.
“This summit is our opportunity to show the world how Africa can unite its innovation to build a truly inclusive digital market,” he said.
He emphasized that digital transformation is not solely about technology but about economic opportunity and governance reform.
“Africa’s digital transformation is not about technology alone; it is about people. It is about creating jobs for our youth, strengthening governance and opening doors for businesses across the continent,” Eng. Tanui added.
Jessy Maruti, the incoming Chief Executive Officer of the ICT Authority (ICTA), extended an invitation to ministers, regulators, CEOs, and development partners across the continent.
“We are not convening merely to exchange perspectives, but to align on execution. We are no longer deliberating on whether Africa will lead in the digital economy. It is time to question how deliberately and how collectively we can act,” he said.
Maruti framed the summit as a platform for coordinated action rather than dialogue alone, signaling a shift toward accountability and delivery.
