Samsung has been very aggressive in supporting Tizen but so far no other OEM has joined the platform. This has not stopped Samsung as it has been releasing smartphones and smartwatches that come with Tizen with the hope of getting something out of it in the future.
With not many people using Tizen at the moment, it is hard to get developers to come up with apps to this platform. This has been the main problem that Windows Phone has faced and Tizen will go through the same. Most developers do not see it as a worthy investment to come up with apps for a platform that not many people are using.
Even as Tizen struggles to expand to more markets, Facebook thinks it is headed in the right direction as the social networking site has just released its first native app for Tizen and specifically for the Samsung Z3. The Samsung Z3 is the latest Tizen smartphone on the market and it makes sense for Facebook to release its first app for this device.
This app will replace the direct-to-web “app” that Samsung Z3 users have had for some time now. This new native app is just for the Samsung Z3 and we may be seeing another version for the Samsung Z1 at a later date.
Nice move for Facebook, now we will have to wait and see if any other app developer joins the Tizen ecosystem.
