Android 6.0 Marshmallow is already out there and we expect to see manufacturers pushing out this update to their devices anytime from now. At the moment, the update is already available for Nexus devices and some Android One devices. The Nexus devices that can get Android Marshmallow update include the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 9, and Nexus player. As for the Android One devices, the update is currently available to about three devices none of which is officially available in Kenya.

Back to Samsung, we have information that the company is already working on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for some its devices. The devices include its flagships from both 2014 and 2015, these are the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge+, Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy Note Edge.

It is not strange to see Samsung start with the flagship devices first. The update is currently being tested and is not available to end users.

What of Other Galaxy Devices?

This is a provisional list and you should expect other devices to join in on the ‘Marshmallow party’ very soon. The Galaxy A devices will most likely be next after the flagship devices get their update. The Galaxy A devices are more of mid-range smartphones so they definitely will get updated.

Samsung may decide to roll out the update to all its devices at once or may push it to each device at a different time.

Am also expecting Samsung to push the Android Marshmallow update to some of its devices in the Galaxy J series. These may include the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 smartphones. These are in the mid-range category, more in the lower mid-range segment so I will not be surprised to see them updated.

As for when the updates will start rolling out, Samsung has not confirmed anything but that might be anytime from now and before the end of the year. Keep it here to be informed when the Marshmallow update is available for your device and for information on how you can get it.
