Introducing the Samsung Galaxy J7 and J5

Samsung officially announced the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 this week as the new additions to the Galaxy J family. The Galaxy J series of smartphones are more so entry level and mid-range smartphones that Samsung launched not so long ago.

The latest addition to this family, the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 were officially launched in India and Samsung has officially revealed their prices. The Galaxy J5 will retail at $190(approximately Ksh 20,000 before taxes) while the Galaxy J7 will retail at $235 (approximately Ksh 24,000 before taxes).

The Samsung Galaxy J5 comes with a Snapdragon 410 processor coupled with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage space that can be expanded using a microSD card. This smartphone has a 5 inch display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. At the back sits a 13MP camera with a 5MP front facing camera. Providing all the power is a 2600 mAh battery.

The Galaxy J7 on the other hand is powered by a Snapdragon 615 processor with the same 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. This phone has a 5.5 inch display with a 720p resolution. This phone has a 3000 mAh battery while the rest of the specs are similar to the Galaxy J5.

Both smartphones will be powered by Android 5.1 which is a nice move for Samsung. The company has not revealed if or when these phones will be available globally but those in India can get them as from the end of this month.
