Sony was once a very big player in the smartphone scene but the company has not been that active for the last couple of years. The company has still been manufacturing Smartphones but has not made so much noise as competition gets tougher. A few months ago, the company announced the Xperia Z4 in Japan.
The Xperia Z4 was specifically made for Japan and the company promised that an international version was to be unveiled at a later date. The Xperia Z4 was more of a slightly improved Xperia Z3 but all the same it was a good device. Sony kept its word and a few weeks later, the company unveiled the international version of the Xperia Z4 that it called the Xperia Z3+.
We expected the Xperia Z3+ to be the only smartphone from Sony but it looks like that is not the case. The company is planning to launch the Xperia Z5 later this year. The Xperia Z5 will be Sony’s next flagship that is expected to be announced in September according to a new report that has surfaced. Since the expected launch date is September, I am expecting the Xperia Z5 during this year’s edition of IFA that takes place in Berlin from September 4th to 9th.
According to the report, Sony will also launch the Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Ultra at the same time. This means that we should expect a bunch of Sony Xperia devices this September if all goes as planned.
The Xperia Z5 is expected to bring some new features to the Xperia family. To start with, it will be powered by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor which we are yet to see in any smartphone. It will come with 4GB of RAM, 4,500 mAh battery and will feature a fingerprint recognition system.
For the camera, the Xperia Z5 is expected to have a 21MP Sony Exmor RS IMX230 CMOS sensor, with 4K video recording support and HDR capabilities. It looks like Sony is pushing the limits with the Xperia Z5 and this is a good thing. We all want manufacturers to go above and beyond so that we can enjoy the finest features and specs on our Smartphones.
