If you are a proud owner of a Google Nexus 4 Smartphone, you may be happy to know that your phone will soon be getting Android 5.1 Lollipop. Google has always supported the Nexus devices and this latest move is just proof of that. The Nexus 4 was first released in November 2012 making it one of the oldest Smartphone to get the update.

Considering that some 2014 Smartphones will not be getting this update, you have to applaud Google’s move. The Nexus 4 Android Lollipop release is an Over the Air (OTA) update that has already started rolling out to some people.
With the Android Lollipop update, users will be receiving key improvements that include the new quick-settings menu and improved Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings. Users will also be able to manage their notifications from systems apps and others through the Interruptions option found in the priority profile settings.

With Android Lollipop usage on the increase, showing support to older devices is a nice move for Google. Let’s hope the big Smartphone manufacturers follow in these footsteps.
For those keen on security the Lollipop update has the Device Protection feature that allows the tracking of stolen or misplaced Smartphones. When someone tries to factory reset the Smartphone, he/she will still need your login credentials for the process to go through.
The OTA update is 174.5MB in size and is currently rolling out to all Nexus 4 devices in phases.
