New DStv Rates In Kenya As From April 1st 2015

AIRTEL DSTV

Back in February this year, DStv announced that its subscription rates would go up as from 1 April 2015. Well, April 1st has come and passed and as you expect it, the new rates have taken effect.

In a statement, the company said, “In determining a price increase, Multichoice takes into account many factors including the impact on the subscriber, current inflation and efficiencies effected within the company that may offset the necessity for a price increase.”

“Unfortunately, it is necessary annual basis due to rising costs to the business. Our pricing reflects the cost of doing business and the necessary return on capital in order to ensure a world class , reliable and sustainable pay television service,”  the statement concluded.

DStv’s subscription rates have been going up for the last few years so this latest increase did not surprise me.

The new subscription rates for the DStv premium service will rise from Sh7,400 to Sh8,200. This represents an increase of about 10.8%.

DStv Compact Plus subscribers will fork out Sh5,550 up from Sh4,750 every month. This represents an increase of nearly 17%. On the other hand, DStv Compact subscribers will pay Sh3,250 up from Sh2,900 (12% increase).

DStv Family subscribers will pay Sh1,890 from Sh 1,760 (a 7% increase). DStv Access subscribers on the other hand will pay Sh930 up from Sh880 (a 5.6% increase).

PVR Access Fee is Sh1,020 per month.

Below is a table showing the various packages and their prices.
