HTC was one of the first major Smartphone manufactures to unveil its next flagship at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2015) in Barcelona. The company unveiled the HTC One M9 that was overshadowed by the Samsung Galaxy S6 that was unveiled a few hours later. Even with the Galaxy S6 in the way, the HTC One M9 caught my eyes with its beauty and simplicity.
The design of the HTC One M9 is breathtaking. It is a full uni-body one similar to the one on the HTC One M8. The HTC One M9 feature a 5 inch LCD display with a Full HD resolution. The phone measures 144.6 x 69.7 x 9.61mm making it slightly fatter and shorter than the HTC One M8.
The cameras on the HTC One M9 are pretty impressive with a 20MP main one and a 4MP Ultrapixel front facing one. This is in line with the leaks that had suggested that HTC was ditching Ultrapixels. Ultrapixels sacrifice resolution for low light performance and with the HTC One M9 having a 4MP Ultrapixel front facing camera, expect your selfies to look great in low light conditions.
The battery of the HTC One M9 is a 2800mAh; this is slightly bigger than the 2600mAh battery on the Galaxy S6 Edge. The 2800mAh battery is one of the biggest ones HTC Has ever used in its Smartphones. Let’s just hope it will be enough.
Powering the HTC One M9 is a 64-bit Octa cote Snapdragon 810 processor. The processor has four cores running at 2.0GHz and four other cores at 1.5GHz. This will allow you to switch to the most efficient (in terms of battery and performance) cores depending on what you are doing. This is the latest and most powerful processor from Qualcomm and more efficient and brings improved 4K support.
The HTC One M9 has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded using a microSD card. Since Android OS, Sense UI and other system files take about 11GB of space, you will be left with only 21GB of storage.
In terms of connectivity, the HTC One M9 supports dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.1. The dual band Wi-Fi support means that the One M9 has superior Wi-Fi performance over the HTC One M8.
The HTC One M9 will be available as from this month in Taiwan, Europe and the US. Other markets will follow soon.
