Samsung is not interested in buying BlackBerry

samsung

Last week the tech world was abuzz with reports that Samsung was interested in buying out BlackBerry. BlackBerry immediately came out denying the allegations but Samsung did not say anything.  Well, it looks like Samsung has no plans of acquring BlackBerry after all.

According to Samsung’s head of mobile phone division, the two companies will continue working together but Samsung will not buy BlackBerry.

Samsung’s head of mobile division, J.K. Shin was quoted saying, “We want to work with BlackBerry and develop this partnership, not acquire the company.” In November, Samsung and BlackBerry announced the two companies would team up to provide Android device owners better end-to-end security via BES12 and Samsung KNOX. In today’s interview, Shin said, “We are satisfied with the progress of Knox, including the quality of security and protection that it enables, and remain committed to Knox over the long term.”

Instead of buying BlackBerry, Samsung is believed to be working towards adding more of BlackBerry’s technology into its Smartphones. Nothing has been announced officially about this so take this information with pinch of salt.
