
The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 is underway in Las Vegas and even though it has just started, there are a few devices announced that you will definitely want to know about. In this article, I will list down the top 5 Smartphones that have been announced as of today.
The Asus Zenfone 2
The Asus Zenfone 2 is available in two variants, one with 2GB of RAM and the other one with 4GB of RAM. The 4GB model stands out as being the first Smartphone to have 4GB RAM. The Zenfone 2 has a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 that guarantees protection from scratches. Under the hood, Asus has used a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor that is LTE-enabled and can reach speeds of 2.33GHz.
The 4GB model will retail at $250 (approximately Kshs. 23,000 before taxes) while the 2GB model will retail at $200 (approximately Kshs. 18,000). Both devices will be available as from March 2015.
LG G Flex 2
The LG G Flex 2 is one the first Smartphones to be announced at CES 2015. The LG G Flex 2 has a curved 5.5-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1080p. The display is what has got people talking about this Smartphone.
Under the frame, the LG G Flex 2 has an octa-ocre 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor. Its back cover is self healing to prevent against scratches. LG has not announced the retail price for the G Flex 2 but expect it to be around the same price range as its predecessor, the LG G Flex.
Asus Zenfone Zoom
The Asus Zenfone Zoom is the second Smartphone Asus has unveiled at CES 2015. It has a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with a full HD resolution (1080p) and 401 ppi. Just like the Asus Zenfone 2, the Zenfone Zoom has a 64-bit quad-core processor from Atom.
The rear camera of the Zenfone Zoom is a 13MP one with Dual LED flash. The front camera is perfect for selfies thanks to its 5 MP wide-angle lens. To ensure the Zenfone Zoom stays powered for long, Asus has used a 3000 mAh battery. This Smartphone will be available as from April this year and will retail at $400 (approximately Kshs. 36,000).
Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro
The Lenovo Vibe X2 Pro is a sleek looking Smartphone that Lenovo has added to its growing portfolio. It has a 5.3-inch IPS display that does not look too big or too small. The Vibe X2 Pro will be running on the updated VIBE 2.0 user interface combined with Android 4.4 KitKat.
This phone is powered by an octa-core 1.5GHz 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. To ensure you enjoy the experience, the phone has 2GB of RAM. The Vibe X2 Pro will be available as from April costing $500 (approximately Kshs. 46,000 before taxes).
Archos 50 Diamond
The Archos 50 Diamond makes it to this list as it has an appealing design with amazing specs. It has a 5 inch display with a full HD resolution of 1080p. To power this Smartphone is a Snapdragon 615 processor with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory.
At the back is a 16 MP camera while at the front sits an 8 MP camera. What makes this Smartphone even more appealing is that is supports dual SIM connectivity and 4G LTE. Archos has not announced the price and availability of this Smartphone.
