Truecaller, a leading search technology company that is transforming your phonebook to make it more intelligent and useful, today announces the launch of the new Truecaller on Google Play. The new update focuses on predictive style features, which suggests who to contact based on call history, time of day, and place, making it convenient, so you never have to leave the app to find the right contact information.

Already one of the world’s fastest growing startups, Truecaller also announces that it has surpassed 100 million users globally, and has doubled its daily new users in less than 3 months. Consumers use Truecaller to identify unknown numbers, block unwanted calls, and search contact information among people and businesses. In addition to the surge in the user base, Truecaller also receives more than 1.5 billion search requests per month.

Empowering Users with a Smarter and a More Personal Mobile Phone Experience

Truecaller aims to solve a huge pain point for billions of consumers who use their phonebook on a daily basis, but often need to go outside of their app to find useful information they need. Similar to how Google has been able to combine information and intelligence, Truecaller uses its proprietary search technology and social graph, and combines it with hundreds of different sources such as Yelp! and social networks to create a smarter way for users to access current information across all social channels, platforms and devices.

Truecaller uses algorithms to personalize searches and suggest relevant contacts you might want to get in touch with based on call history, time and place. As an example, at 5pm before you leave from work, Truecaller might suggest  you to call home, if that’s what you would usually do at that time and place.

The app has been fully redesigned to provide easier discovery and simpler navigation, and rebuilt to make it much lighter in terms memory consumption. The new Truecaller includes the following new features:

  • Receive Suggested Contacts: Truecaller can now predict who you may want to reach and make relevant suggestions based on call history, time, or location. The more you use it, the smarter it gets, and the app will eventually be able to help do the work of knowing who to call so you no longer have to scroll through unnecessary tabs.
  • Complete Contact Profiles: Truecaller keeps your phonebook up to date with relevant information by adding social media profiles and photos so you have all the contact information you need in one central place. Users can choose how they are being displayed in their friend’s Truecaller phonebook by updating their profiles.
  • Smarter Search and Discovery: Now you can search within your contacts as well as names and numbers beyond your existing phone book with an extensive list of more than 1.5 billion contacts. There’s no need to switch between searching for people inside and outside of your phonebook or constantly updating the information, as Truecaller will always give you the most relevant and personal results.
  • Easily Place Calls and Send Texts: A new user interface makes staying connected easier than ever before. Once a user profile is pulled, you just need to swipe left to text or swipe right to place a call. This one-step process makes it so easy, you can stay in touch faster and more conveniently.

“This is the first step we are taking to make Truecaller more intelligent and personal. We’ve made these advancement to save time for our users and make their lives less complicated when they want to get in touch with someone,” said Alan Mamedi, Co-Founder & CEO of Truecaller. “Our ambition is to make your mobile phone smarter and become part of your mobile daily habits.”

Truecaller is committed to leading with product innovation that makes the lives of its users easier than ever before. In October of this year, the company received $60M in funding from leading VC firms Sequoia Capital, Atomico, and Kleiner Perkins Caufield Byers, and Truecaller launched its intelligent dial pad app Truedialer in October, which has already amassed more than two million users.
