Sell Your Unused Items and Make Extra Cash This Festive Season

fast selling electronic items online1

December is here again and if you are like me, you will need some extra cash to keep up with the festive season. There are quite a number of ways you can make money but the easiest one so far is selling your unused household items online. Online classifieds sites such as OLX have made the process easy and affordable for most people and if you need that extra cash right away, I suggest you try your luck.

When it comes to internet selling, the mantra is “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure” so you never know who will appreciate the stuff you don’t think much of in your house. Before you rush and sell your items online, there are a few tips you need to keep in mind to get the cash you want quickly.

Research the Items to Sell First

Before you post your items, research on them to find what unique features they have. These features are what you will include in the description to help attract the right buyers. You need to know that sites such as OLX have thousands of products listed and some of them are similar to what you are selling. Differentiating yourself from the other sellers will go down to the information you have and the same information you can provide to the potential buyers.

Get the Price Right

Most people who go to OLX are there for the low prices. This means that you will need to research what the existing buyers are offering and work around that. If potential buyers see you as expensive, they might not give your items a second look even if they are of the highest quality.

Still on price, it is always a good idea to offer your low cost items if you need quick cash. This is because low cost items tend to sell out faster than the more expensive ones. It is also important list your price as “negotiable” as this tends to attract more buyers. Just make sure the price you settle for is a “good deal” for you and the buyers.

 Get Good Photos

Before posting you item on OLX, take quality photos from different angles. At this point, I will have to tell you that it is not a good idea to just lift photos of the product online as this is not attractive to most potential buyers. Take at least five photos showing different angles of the product just to make sure they are appealing potential buyers. Having good photos is beneficial to you as it brings serious buyers who are more likely to buy what you are selling.

Describe Your Products

Describing your product correctly is one of the key things if you want to sell anything on OLX. Make sure the information you list alongside your product is correct. You may also want to describe the condition of the product just to make sure you are on the same level with the potential buyers who contact you. Make sure you spell check what you right as grammatical errors may not go well with some buyers.

Post in the Right Category

Posting in the right category is a very important step as some people will just go to specific categories to find what they are interested in. Positing in the right category also gives you an opportunity to show the potential buyers that you know what you are talking about and that you are legit.

Repost, Repost and Repost

If your ad on OLX expires, you can still repost it if it was not sold. Reposting allows you to stay on top of the search list and this will attract more buyers over time. Staying on top of the search list is crucial as most buyers do not scroll down to older pages unless they do not find exactly what they are looking for.
