Microsoft Reveals That More Than 50 Million Lumias Have Been Activated So Far

Microsoft has been trying to push the adoption of Windows Phone for the last few years amid stiff competition from Android and iOS.  Windows Phone has been picking up for the last one-year or so thanks to the Lumia branded devices. Even though Windows Phone is not where Microsoft wants it to be, its growth has been phenomenal since 2011.

Microsoft says that over 50 Million Lumia Smartphones have been activated since 2011. This may not be a mind-blowing number but it is still significant in some way. Microsoft revealed this in a press conference held in Germany.

This number includs all Lumia devices that have been activated since 2011 and does not reveal how many of such devices are still in use.

Microsoft also revealed that there are 320,000 apps in the Windows Phone store. This is a slight bump from the 300,000 apps number recorded in August this year.
