Microsoft and Skype are offering 3 months Unlimited World subscription on Skype for all consumers buying new Lumia Smartphones. This subscription will allow users to call mobile and landlines all over the world for the next three months. I have already activated my 3 month free subscription and urge you to do so too if you have a new Lumia Smartphone.
To activate the subscription, you will have to follow these steps carefully:
The first and most important step is to download the ‘Skype Gift App’ from the Windows Phone store. To claim the Skype gift, open the app and agree to the terms and conditions. This app will check your phone’s IMEI number to determine if you can get the voucher.
Sign in to your Skype account using your browser http://www.skype.com (Keep in mind that you can log in with your Microsoft account). From there you will see your account details, scroll down till you see the ‘Billing and Payments’ tab. Click on it for it to reveal the ‘Redeem voucher’ tab.
Activating free Skype subscription
Enter the Voucher code shown on the ‘Skype Gift App’. Tick “I agree to the Skype terms of service” and click “Redeem” and you will be good to go.
After completing the activation process, you will receive an email saying that the order has been completed and is active. The email will also indicate that this is a ‘recurring payment and is eligible for refund’. This is just a standard email sent to all Skype users so you do not have to worry about being charged after the 3 months are over. Microsoft has confirmed that this offer is not eligible for a refund and has no recurring payments.
