Google set to remove YouTube ads

Youtube

Google is arguably one of the largest companies in the world, in fact, a recent ranking placed it at the second spot, behind only Apple. All this success can be attributed to the conglomerate of start-ups that encompass Google as a whole. Plus, the search engine itself has been of significant importance in the growth of the company. The major source of revenue is usually ads that are placed almost everywhere. Most times these ads can be of annoyance, especially on platforms such as YouTube. To this end, Google is apparently working on a service that will do away with all the YouTube ads. As such, users will be able to access all the videos without waiting to skip all those ads.

But there is a catch. Of course you have to pay for it. Google gets its revenue from these ads, and the channel owners are also paid from the ads that run on their videos. So for you to be able to watch the videos without the ads yet both Google and the channel owners get their revenue then it just makes sense that you pay for the service. Consequently, Google’s Susan Wojcicki, who has been with Google for quite a long time now, is heading the development of the YouTube subscription service.

Sure enough, an ad free YouTube would appeal to quite a number of users. While some ads are normally so interesting that they grab a user’s attention, the large majority of ads are typically annoying, particularly when you attempt to skip it and end up clicking it altogether. Nonetheless, the question that remains is whether users hate ads enough to pay for their removal. This is particularly in consideration of the fact that there is already AdBlock, a free addon that facilitates just the same service that Google now wants you to pay for. But being Google, it may curtail AdBlock and only enable its subscription service as the sole ad avoidance tool. Nonetheless, what will determine the success of this subscription service is just its cost, of which we shall be made aware in due time.
