Facebook is testing a new feature that will allow users to schedule deletion of some of their posts. The new feature borrows heavily from snapchat, an app that Facebook has been trying very hard to take down. A few weeks ago, Facebook launched Slingshot a new app similar to snapchat. This new app features expiring video and photos just like snapchat.

This new feature right of Facebook is still in testing mode and there is no news when it will go mainstream. Facebook regularly tests new features for both Android and iOS and goes ahead to deploy them a few week later so we should expect this new feature very soon.

Facebook self distraction feature

Facebook does this as a way to assess user reactions and decide if the feature is worth it. This new feature may be beneficial for some people and especially for event related posts.

With this new feature, users will have an option of choosing an expiration period from 1 hour to a week. The post will be immediately deleted from thr timeline but removing it from the offline back-up servers will take a few months.
