Jumia Kenya Gives Back to Society by Sponsoring the Nairobi Elegance Affair

Jumia Kenya has confirmed its sponsorship for the Nairobi Elegance Affair an event that will take place at the Nairobi Railways Museum this Saturday 6th September 2014.

The fashion event will bring together upcoming and established fashion designers who will showcase on the runway. 50% of proceeds from the event will go towards buying sewing machines for less fortunate women in the rural areas and to train them on tailoring and fashion business for them to better their lives and those of the communities around them under the Cherehani Africa initiative.

Parinaz Firozi, MD Jumia Kenya. “The Nairobi Elegance Affair is for a good cause and Jumia is honoured to sponsor the event for the second time to help less fortunate women realise their dreams.”

The culture of online shopping is fast taking shape in Kenya and Jumiais set toopen offices in Mombasa with expansion set for other towns. Firozi believes the company will be able to sponsor more charity events in future.

 About Cherehani Africa

Cherehani Africa is an initiative that supports less fortunate women in the rural areas of Kenya by redirecting proceeds from the fashion event dubbed Nairobi Elegance Affair .The initiative provides training to them on tailoring and fashion business to enable them start and run successful fashion businesses that will provide income to them. The initiative seeks to make dreams of several young women come true by making it possible for them to have ready income and cash flow through the tailoring skills that they will have learnt in addition to a new sewing machine.
