Microsoft’s Nokia Lumia 530 Heads over to China First as Global Distribution Starts

gsmarena 0013

Microsoft announced the Lumia 530 a little over a week ago and said that the device is headed for the emerging markets. When launching this device, Microsoft also announced that shipping will start this month (August) in selected markets. One of those markets is clearly china as this entry level Windows Phone Smartphone is available in the country.

The Lumia 530 is selling at 599 CNY (approximately Kshs. 8,500) in China making it the cheapest Windows Phone handset ever.

The Lumia 530 is similar to its predecessors the Lumia 525 & Lumia 520 in more ways than one. It has a pretty small size with a 4-inch display with a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels. Under the hood, it has a 1.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon processor coupled with 512 MB of RAM. It will also have 4GB of storage space that can be expanded using a microSD card.

At the back there will be a 1,430 mAh battery under the frame and a 5MP camera with no front facing one, this is not that big of a deal breaker considering it is an entry level device.

For that price and some of the specs, I would recommend this device for anyone who want to taste the Windows Phone ecosystem but doesn’t want to spend all that cash for a premium device. I just hope this device makes its way to Kenya very soon.
