SwiftKey For Android Is Now Free

At last there is some good news for all you Android users who have or are planning to install SwiftKey Keyboard on their Smartphones as the company has announced that completely free to download it via Google play store. This is a move the company hopes will trigger the use of its keyboard in developing countries where it has seen slow growth.

Up until now, SwiftKey has been available for $3.99 and had an option where you could try it for free for one month before paying. For those who have already paid for the full version, SwiftKey will reward you with a “Premier pack” of 10 themes for free.

The company has confirmed that its new business model will be to focus on in app purchases of themes and other content. The company has also updated the app with over 800 emojis and a new prediction feature that learns how emojis are used and predicts them as you type.

SwiftKey co-founder and CEO Jon Reynolds said, “This is the start of an incredibly exciting phase for us as a business. We have made the decision to go free to better enable everyone, everywhere, to use SwiftKey’s market-leading technology without payment being a barrier. We’re focused not only on reaching more users with our powerful technology, but on building great content and features to engage them.”
