StarTimes slashes its decoder prices

project

Startimes media has as of today slashed the prices of all its decoders in a move that will definitely spur competition with its rival GOTv. Competition between the two companies have spiked up and recently Startimes allowed users to stream all their favourite channels on their Smartphones through Vooka.

Back to the latest move, Startimes has slashed the prices of its decoders by 33% as of today. This means that the price of the normal Startimes pay Television digital box will drop from Kshs. 2,999 to Kshs. 1,999. The other free to air decoder will drop from Kshs. 4,999 to Kshs. 4,499. Currently GOTv is selling its decoder at Kshs. 3,399 so Startimes may have just taken the competition to a whole new level.

Startimes is confident with the move saying, “Access to digital television is no longer a luxury, as more and more Kenyans embrace the technology. We are impressed by the headway so far in our quest to ensure the majority of Kenyan households have access to affordable digital television service. We continue to also develop value adds with the aim of giving subscribers a taste of our premium programming.”

This is a welcomed move by the company and it will be interesting to see how the completion turns out between GOTv and Startimes.
