Samsung Is About To “Kapture” The Moment With A New Galaxy Zoom On April 29

The Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom was Samsung’s first Smartphone and digital camera hybrid. The device borrowing heavily from last year’s flagship, the Galaxy S4, was unveiled 2 months after the Galaxy S4 hit the stores and was a hit with most photographers and camera enthusiasts. The Galaxy S4 zoom got some decent reviews mainly because of its crisp clear camera but was also received negative reviews from some quarters due to its size, weight and CPU. Samsung did not reveal how many units were sold.

Looking at the future, we have high hopes as we expect a new camera-Smartphone hybrid to zoom our way later on this month. Tuesday April 29 at 11PM (Singapore time) will be the exact day and time we expect to see the next Galaxy zoom device from Samsung.

This is according to a media event invite to be held in Singapore by Samsung. The invite reads “Samsung media day, Kapture the moment.” The word capture, misspelled intentionally as ‘Kapture’ is believe to hint at the name of the next Galaxy Zoom, in this case we believe it will be named the Galaxy K zoom. Of course, this may just our interpretation and Samsung may be using it as a marketing gimmick to drive attention to their event.

The Galaxy K Zoom as we call it has had its fair share of leaks and is expected to have slight but significant improvements from the Galaxy S4 zoom. The Galaxy K zoom is expected to be slightly thinner that the S4 zoom. You will remember that one of the biggest issues most reviewers and users had with the S4 zoom was it large sizes and weight. If Samsung makes it thinner and less bulky, this may be received well by consumers.

Other specs about this Smartphone-digital camera we have seen floating around include a 20MP lens on the back and a 2.1 shooter at the front, a 4.8-inch 1280×720 display, 2 GB of RAM, hexa-core Exynos processor, with two 1.7 GHz Cortex-A15 cores and four 1.3 GHz Cortex-A7 cores. Operating system is expected to be Android 4.4.2 KitKat.

If these leaked specs turn out to be the real deal, Samsung will have improved greatly from the S4 zoom and it will be interesting to see what critics have to say about that.

Mark your calendars on April 29 at 6AM Kenyan time if you want to be the first to know what Samsung’s “Kapturing” business is all about.
