Photo Tagging and Multi-Tweet Pictures Options Added to Twitter’s Mobile Apps

Twitter has updated its Android and iOS apps and added enhancements to sharing and uploading photos. Over the past few years, Twitter has been integrating various features mostly found in other social media sites and the move to add photo tagging and allowing multiple photos on tweets is the best move they have made so far.

This move is not just out of thin air as photo sharing is a very big business considering the biggest photo sharing site, Instagram, has over 200 Million registered users. 57% of these users access the site daily. According to Instagram, 60 Million photos are shared each day and this is perhaps what led Twitter to adding these new features to their Mobile apps with the hope of attracting new users (especially those on Instagram) and retaining most of their current users.

Twitter on the other hand has over 500 Million registered users while 215 Million are very active on the site.

The new Multi-tweet feature will allow users to add up to 4 photos per tweet. Previously, you could only tweet one photo at a time.  This comes in handy when you want to share your most recent photos but you do not want to create multiple tweets.

The photo tagging feature is similar to what is currently of Facebook (Twitter’s main competitor) and even Instagram. This feature will allow you to tag up to 10 other users and the cool thing is that the tags will not affect your 140 character limit. If you do not want to be tagged to photos uploaded by some of your followers, you can adjust that on your privacy settings page.

The photo tag feature will be available on both iOS and Android apps but the” multiple photo tweet” will be initially available on iOS before making its way to the Android app.
