The answer to the above question is ‘yes’ Motorola is working on a Smartwatch to be unveiled sometime this year. The company confirmed this during a press event at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The company did not reveal much about the wearable device they are working on but said it will address consumer issues such as battery life and style of the wearable tech.
The nitty gritty details of the Smartwatch are not clear but you should expect it to have the basic functionality and features of other smartwatches.
Motorola first tried its hands with a wearable tech back in 2011 with the MOTOACTV which was essentially a fitness band for tracking runs among other features. It also showed notification from a synced Smartphone. The device was not that successful as it was to expensive at the time and did not appeal to the masses.
Of late, we have seen many companies expressing interest in the wearable market and it would be interesting to see how competition shapes the industry with the entry of new players.
