For a long time now, Sony has always been associated with mid and high end Smartphones. The Xperia z family for example has some of the best high end Smartphones in the market today.
At Mobile World Congress 2014, Sony announced a new devices to join the Xperia Z family, the Xperia Z2. In the midst of all this, the company also announced a new entry level Smartphone it refers to as the Xperia M2.
The Xperia M2 is the successor to the Xperia M and has a quad core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor. It also has a qHD display screen with a resolution of 960 x 540. Some of the other specs and features we know about this device are listed below:
4.8-inch display with 960×540 resolution
Quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 CPU
1GB of RAM
Dual-SIM support
8MP rear camera
4G LTE support
Color choices: black, white and purple
2300mAh battery with STAMINA Mode 3.0
Sony has not said anything about the Android version this device will run but I will not be surprised to see it run the Android 4.4 KitKat.
The specs may not be eye-catching but they are not so bad for an entry level Smartphone. the Xperia M2 will come with a few Sony apps out of the box including Social live, timeburst shift, Picture among others.
The Xperia M2 will be available globally as from April. Pricing has not been revealed yet.
