The Xperia franchise is made up of Smartphones that have been designed for customers who prefer premium and high-end features. All the Xperia Smartphones have enjoyed the full support of Sony ever since they were unveiled. This is going to change as the company has announced that it will cease support for a number of these devices in the weeks to come.

Most Smartphones enjoy firmware updates for sometime after their production. Support is normally extended for up to 2 years, after which the updates are no longer commercially viable for the manufacturer and most of them stop supporting the devices at this time.

The Xperia Smartphones that will not receive future updates from Sony range from 18 months to two-year-old devices. These include: Xperia arc S, Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia ion, Xperia acro S, Xperia go, Xperia P, Xperia J, Xperia miro, Xperia sola, Xperia tipo and Xperia U.
