Facebook Paper For iOS Finally out but Only Limited to US Users

14 11

If you have been following Facebook closely, you might have heard that the company was planning to unveil a new app to compete with the likes of Flipboard. The new app is only available for iOS users for now is finally out but only available to users in the United States (there are workaround to this which i will share in a new post).

For a long time, Facebook has not had much luck when it comes to mobile. The company’s android interface launched last year was not a success since most users did not like it. Even the company’s themed Smartphones were not received well by consumers.

Fast forward to 2014 and enter Facebook paper. This app is very clean with a minimalistic approach card layout that allows users to scour their feeds and add content that is of interest to them.  Categories such as Tech, pop life, score, family matters are all available. “As you start changing the way you’re displaying this content, we hope that it will change the way people think about posting content,” Mike Matas, Paper’s product design lead, said in an interview.

I have had the chance to download the app, used it briefyly and am impressed with it. Maybe this is the app that will keep me hooked to Facebook all day after all. I will have a full review of the app after a few days of use so you can check back then for more of that.

Navigating through the app is by swipes and gestures. You can swipe from top down to access your timeline, create a post, edit the card layout section and access the setting section. All the pages you like and groups you have joined can be accessed by pulling the top down. By swiping up the news items in the card layout at the bottom half of the app, you will be able to open and read that particular story. You can also edit the sections and categories to display the categories (eg Tech) that may be of interest to you on the front page of the app. As i said earlier, a detailed review of the app will be available in a few days time.

There is still no news of when this app will be available for Android but we hope it will be very soon. Follow the link below to download the app to your iOS device.
