Windows phone 8 platform was pretty match dominated by Lumia devices from Nokia. This is not a surprise as the company invested a lot on the platform ignoring the more established Android platform. This is perhaps the main reason why Microsoft decided to buy the mobile division of Nokia sometime last year.
Even with the merger expected anytime soon, there have been rumors that the Finnish mobile giant is working on a device to run a customized version of Android OS. This new device code named Nokia X is still under wraps with no official word from Nokia.
With the expected launch of Windows Phone 8.1, there are sources that are suggesting Nokia will unveil a number of Windows Phone 8.1 devices at Mobile World Congress late next month. The Nokia X will be among these devices which will also include Lumia 1820, 1520 and 1525V (or Lumia 1520 mini). The devices will range from high end ones to entry level smartphones.
This is interesting since the official launch of Windows Phone 8.1 is sometime in April but since Nokia mobile division is owned by Microsoft, we should expect them to get ahead of the rest on this platform.
The Lumia 1820 will be one of the high end devices as it is expected to have a 5.2 inch screen (that may possibly be 2K) and Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor. The Lumia 1520V is considered a mini version and will have a 4.45 inch screen with a 14 MP camera.
In the meantime, all we can do is wait and hope these rumors turn out true.
