It was one of the most sort after smartphones at CES 2013 and finally this latest flagship smartphone form Sony is available in Kenya. The Sony Xperia Z was unveiled in Kenya earlier today and will retail at around Kshs. 60000 from any Krishna store countrywide.

During the launch, Izzat Kittaneh who is Sony’s director for business management said that this device mainly targets ‘tech mature people’ who are seeking the latest and greatest devices in the market. With this new device, Sony hopes that it will edge closer to some of its competitors, Apple and Samsung, who control a larger portion of the smartphone market.

The Xperia is marketed as a waterproof and dust proof phone, a feature Sony did not resist showing during its launch in Kenya. Kittaneh also added that most consumers buy devices based on 5 main things: on the operating system, screen size, battery life, processor speed, sound and brand and with this it is clear Sony is well placed to succeed in the local market.

Some of the features the Xperia Z packs include a 5-inch Full HD display screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels giving a Pixel density of 441ppi. Under the hood, the Xperia Z has a Snapdragon S4 pro Quad-Core processor that clocks at 1.5GHz. The Xperia Z also has an impressive 13MP Exmor RS camera at the back while the front facing camera is a 2.2MP Exmor R one.

Do not forget the Xperia Z is powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 technology meaning that you will be able to view quality images and videos as the BRAVIA Engine automatically kicks in whenever you view images and videos on your gallery. The Xperia Z has Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean installed which will be upgraded to 4.2 in future.
