YouTube is undoubtedly the leader when it is compared to other online video sharing sites such as vimeo. In just eight years since its very first video was uploaded, the site has managed to surpass the one Billion monthly viewers mark.
According to a report by Google, one out of every two people on the internet visit YouTube. Google also added that if YouTube were a country, it would be the third largest after China and India.
YouTube started in 2005 as a site dedicated to hosting amateur videos and Google bought the site in 2006 for $1.25 billion, this move by Google helped the site to grow to what it is today.
