XOLO X1000 Launched: What Was Dubbed “The Fastest Smartphone Ever”

And at last March 14, 2013 is here and Intel’s promise to launch the ‘Fastest Smartphone Ever’ has come to be, Intel launched the device Intel X1000earlier today retailing at Rs. 19999(approximately Kshs 31,000). Barely a few hours before Samsung launch their Galaxy SIV; Intel has launched what they had dubbed before its launch as “Mission X” when their countdown timer ticked 00:00:00. Intel had dedicated a page to countdown time remaining to its launch in a move which many saw as a plan to steal the show from Samsung by setting its launch date to be similar with the expected Samsung’s Galaxy SIV.

What it has to offer

Speed

Though I had expected it to be super-fast, or maybe a duo core if not a quad core, Xolo X1000 is offering 2 GHz Intel Atom Processor with Hyper Threading Technology. It’s a first yeah in the phone industry but I still feel like they would have done better than that. However, this is where the trick and speed is, a combination of the 2 GHz, hyper threading technology and 1GB of RAM, the speed mainly comes through the hyper threading technology.

To add on the speed it runs on Android v 4.0.4(Ice Cream Sandwich) which is upgradable to Jelly Bean and it supports dual sim. The device is also armed with a 400 MHz Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) that is built to enhance gaming experience for the game enthusiasts.
Camera

Given the raising importance of camera nowadays, Intel couldn’t miss an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash that comes with a burst mode as well. To add on that it also has a 1.3 megapixel front camera that supports full HD video recording.

All this is displayed on a 4.7” TFT LCD screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with support for 16 M colors, it also has an anti-finger coating as well.

Design

Intel had hinted before that the design would be super and sure enough it did not disappoint Xolo X1000 is accentuated by the black and silver colored back with a 3.5 mm audio jack which, along with the metallic plate under the camera, adds to the elegance of the phone. The screen of the X1000 is made of a single glass which reduces refraction, enabling a better viewing experience and sensors like the accelerometer, proximity sensor and the magnetometer ensure that the phone is extremely responsive.

Connectivity and Features

The Xolo X1000 is equipped with GPRS, EDGE, 3G, Wi-Fi and is Bluetooth enabled
