Google has released the latest Android platform numbers and the stats indicate that Gingerbread is still the most popular version right now. Google collected the date for a 14-day period ending on March 4. According to Google, Android 2.3.3 – 2.3.7 (Gingerbread) makes up about 44% of all devices in the Android ecosystem.
Android 4.0.3-4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) come in second accounting for 28.6% of all Android devices, this is a drop of 0.4% from last month’s numbers, 29%.
The latest Android version, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean is still not very popular as it accounts for only 1.6% of all Android devices while its predecessor, Jelly Bean 4.1 stands at 14.9%.
The next Android version, Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, is expected to debut sometime in May this year at Google I/O.
