Even though Apple has not confirmed that it is working on a cheaper version of the iPhone, new images of what is purported to be the cheaper iPhone have surfaced on the internet, this time on iLounge.
According to the folks at iLounge, the budget iPhone will be made largely from plastic instead of iphone’s usual aluminum shell. Although the iPhone will have a cheaper plastic body, Apple will not compromise on the screen as Gorilla glass will still be used. The screen will have a resolution of 1,136 x 640.
If this report from iLounge is to be believed, the cheaper iPhone will be a hybrid between the iPhone 5, iPod touch and iPod classic.
Looking at the photos the device looks exactly like the iPhone 5 from the front with all the buttons and the camera on the same place, but a closer look reveals that it is actually half a millimeter taller and wider than the iPhone 5.
The move to introduce a cheaper iPhone is definitely a play by Apple to increase its stake in most of the emerging where android based smartphones are easily available at a much lower cost.
