Last week, Mozilla unveiled two smartphones running on their Firefox OS that will be available to developers as from next month. The”developer preview phones” as referred by Mozilla will only be available for developers before they hit the mass market later on.
Mozilla’s Director of Websites and Developer Engagement, Stormy Peters, added that the Firefox OS is designed entirely using open web standards. The two smartphones running Firefox OS being developed at the moment include the Keon and Peak and will have the following specification:
The Keon model
- 512 MB of RAM and 4GB ROM
- 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor
- 3.5-inch HVGA Multitouch display screen
- A 3 MP rear facing Camera
- MicroSD and MicroUSB for extra storage
- Wi-Fi N, GPS, G-Sensor, Light and proximity Sensor
- A 1580 mAh battery
- 3G HSPA and 2G EDGE support
- Over the air updates
The Peak model
- 512 MB of RAM and 4GB ROM
- 1.2GHz x2 Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor
- 4.3-inch HD IPS Multitouch display screen
- 8 MP rear facing camera and a 2 MP front facing camera
- MicroSD and MicroUSB for extra storage
- Wi-Fi N, GPS, G-Sensor, Flash (camera) Light and proximity Sensor
- 1800 mAh Battery
- 3G HSPA and 2G EDGE support
