Multichoice has at last launched the Box Office service in the Kenyan market. This pay-per-view service will rent out movies to subscribers for Kshs. 230 for two days. The service is only available to premium DStv subscribers with the Explora decoder that goes for Kshs. 31,000.

With the new service, subscribers will be able to watch the latest movies from Hollywood and Nollywood before any TV channels is able to show them. This is the first time Kenyans will be able to watch the latest movies on-demand.

Janet Oyugi of MultiChoice Kenya said, “With this innovative service our subscribers can watch the latest blockbusters before they become available on TV, legitimately.”

How the service works is pretty easy as subscribers will have a chance to preview the movies before selecting the one they want to download to their decoders where it will be stored for 48 hours and then be deleted automatically.

“DStv services like BoxOffice form part of a bigger MultiChoice strategy to use cutting-edge technological innovation to help people enjoy some of the best entertainment available at a time that’s convenient to them,’’ said Ms Oyugi.

At any one time, the service will have up to 20 movies for DStv subscribers to choose the ones  they want.
