Amazon Rumored to be Working On A Smartphone.

As many of the smartphone industry bigwigs move into the smart watch subsector, it seems like Amazon is headed to the opposite direction. The well-established Online retailer of books, movies, music and games along with electronics, toys, apparel, sports, tools, groceries and general home and garden items is planning of joining the already highly competitive market. Amazon is well known for its Kindle Fire branded e-readers which of late has been revamped with great capabilities especially audio, memory internet and screen sizes.

Sources within DigitalTimes reveal that Amazon is indeed working on a 4.7-inch smartphone. This is a change to what had been rumored that it would be on 4.3-inch screen sized device. The smartphone is expected to launch during the second Quarter of 2013 although the features are yet to be known in details. However, they expect that the smartphone will be running on an Android Operating System which might be highly customized.

It is expected that given their well-established retail market they might not have major issues in distribution since they can decide to use the established online presence to advance their market share as they did with the Kindle Fire. It is also expected as they did with Kindle Fire, they might launch the product at fairly low prices. The Kindle Fire tablet readers were sold at relatively low margin with a marketing plan of driving more revenues from digital products sales that they would sell to the Kindle Fire customers in form of music book and movies. The same is highly like to happen.
